The term Section eight refers to a class of discharge from the us military when judged mentally unfit for service. It additionally came to mean any serviceperson given such a discharge or behaving as if deserving such a discharge, as within the expression, "he's a neighborhood 8". The term comes from Section VIII of the planet War I-era us Army Regulation 615-360, that provided for the discharge of these deemed unfit for military service
